This full-day training session, presented by The Strategies Center at Youth for Change™, will provide social service professionals with the opportunity to learn some of the latest trauma-informed practices for working specifically with fathers and make caregivers.
- Explore cultural, gender, and societal beliefs and messages young boys and men often learn about as related to masculinity and fatherhood
- Understand the prevalence of trauma, discrimination, and adverse childhood experiences often experienced by fathers including the historical exclusion of fathers in the human and social services
- Explore the role of implicit gender bias and discuss strategies to establish trust and promote strengths-based relationships with fathers and male caregivers
- Apply trauma-informed knowledge to working with fathers and male caregivers and learn to effectively outreach and engage fathers and male caregivers using trauma-informed approaches
- Promote optimal father engagement by reviewing organizational culture and trauma-informed practices on father involvement
- Discuss the Trauma Outcome Process and the role of modeling and resiliency building with father and their children
